Greetings Members!

With temperatures heating up in Oregon, so is OAHU.  Each year, PAHU’s Spring Forum sets the event season off and with record attendance this year, the 31st annual Spring Forum was a huge success.  As I’m sure you can imagine, events of any scale takes time and coordination all which are done by our members in addition to working a full time, demanding job and juggling family needs.  Somehow, these amazing people do it all.  It makes me so proud to be a part of this organization amongst these dedicated individuals working so hard to fulfill the obligations of our association.  Bringing useful content, finding experts in our field, sharing of innovative concepts and education on state and national issues that all impact our ability to deliver better service to our clients, all takes time and effort.  With that in mind,  OAHU continues to push forward developing the 2nd annual Carrier Training, State Convention and PNEBC and the Bernie Reed Scholarship Fund.  Positions for the 2016/17 OAHU board are coming together with interest from agents, carrier representatives and other industry professionals ready to volunteer.  If you are interested in getting involved and not sure how, please reach out to me and we will get you connected.  Serving on a committee or a board position can give you the opportunity to share your talents and insight with others and the foundation of our organization is built precisely on that.  Browse our other happenings in the newsletter and if you have feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your board members.

Crazy Presidential Election Year!

hupac-1

This election year provides us with an opportunity to affect the political landscape for the next several years and create more positive political positions for our members.  Our industry is faced with continuing challenges and we are continuously called upon to define and defend the important role our members serve in the healthcare benefit landscape.

“HUPAC is a bipartisan PAC established to protect the livelihood of agents and brokers by supporting members of Congress who support the role agents and brokers in a private marketplace. These days it is not as easy as looking at a member’s party affiliation to determine whether they support the agent and broker legislative agenda. We need to continuously educate members of Congress on the importance of the employer-sponsored health insurance system and the power of free markets to provide quality health insurance options for employers and consumers. HUPAC allows our NAHU team in DC and members across the country to tell our story over and over.” – Chris Hartman, NAHU VP of Congressional Affairs

Contributions to HUPAC are an essential part of our legislative program and even more so in an election year because they enable us to make strategic investments that lay the groundwork for our legislative efforts.

If you are contributing to HUPAC, thank you for your continued support. If you have not contributed, please take this opportunity to do so, as it is vitally important.

Look what NAHU has done for its members lately….

OREGON also has a PAC…and it needs your financial support!

The purpose of the Oregon State PAC is to encourage members to be actively involved in the public policy process. Contributions are made to candidates and toward issues affecting our customers and our businesses.

If not now, WHEN? Every dollar makes a difference. All it takes is for each of us to donate $5 – $10 to each PAC a month and we can make such a difference. Our voices will be heard loud and clear. Join me, fill out your donations and together we will make a difference, one dollar at a time!

Thank you!
